The PowerShares DB Commodity Index Tracking Fund is based on the Optimum Yield version of the Deutsche Bank Liquid Commodity Index. The fund invests in futures contracts on six commodities - crude oil, heating oil, gold, aluminum, corn and wheat.

This commodity ETF may be a little more volatile than some of the other commodity ETFs based on commodity indexes. DBC is composed of six commodities and basically represents three commodity sectors – energy, grains and metals. Energy accounts for more than half of the index.
