Futures Quote and Chart Websites

By Chuck Kowalski, About.com

You will likely want to check quotes and examine charts if you are interested in trading commodities. There are several free sources online where you can check delayed or real-time quotes and charts.

Delayed quotes are typically 10-30 minutes behind real-time prices. Most free quote services use delayed quotes. Real-time quotes are prices where the market is currently trading - hence the term, real-time. Most services will charge you a fee for real time quotes.

FutureSource

This is one of the most popular sites for futures traders. They offer free quotes on futures and options and they have excellent charts with several technical studies.

You can look up futures quotes on the quote page by the drop down menu of commodities and futures. Or, you can scroll further down the page and check by market category.

Once you pull up a quote page, look in the far left column and run your mouse over the icons. There you will see the links to access charts, option prices and more quotes on each commodity or futures market.

Prophet.net

Excellent one-page format for futures quotes that are organized by sector. They have links where each quote takes you to the respective chart. The charts also include technical analysis studies.

When you click on a link of a commodity, a small window will appear with a one day chart of that commodity. You can adjust the duration from one day to whatever timeframe you like - 10 days, 3 months, 1 year, etc.

If you would like a larger chart, click on the Snap Charts at the bottom of the window. This will take you to a larger chart where you can add an extensive list of technical studies.

BarChart

Futures quotes are organized in a one-page format. On the quotes page, you will see all the commodity and futures quotes separated by categories. The front month contract is always listed on this page. You can click the link on the commodity and it will take you to an extended list of all the different contract months and quotes for each commodity market.

The far right column has links for additional quotes, charts and market opinions using technical analysis. Once you open a chart, you have to click the custom chart field to use technical studies. They could use an upgrade to the charts as they very plain with dull graphics.
